United States: good to know

  • What visitors pay. Multnomah County says a visit to its STI Clinic costs $50 without insurance, that no one is turned away if they cannot pay, that you do not have to live in the county, and that no identification or insurance is required. It is by appointment only.
  • PEP in this country. PEP must start within 72 hours of exposure. On the day we checked, Multnomah County's STI Clinic listed HIV PEP as temporarily unavailable, so do not rely on it. Instead, go to a hospital emergency department and say you need PEP for HIV exposure.

Emergency number: 911
