United States: good to know
- PEP in this country. NYC Health says emergency PEP must start within 72 hours. Call the 24/7 PEP Hotline, or go to a clinic, emergency room or NYC Sexual Health Clinic and ask for PEP. Many insurance plans cover it and NYC Health says financial assistance is available; it does not publish a price for people without US insurance.Published by NYC Health· 18 Sep 2026
- What visitors pay. US care is rarely free for visitors. The city-run NYC Sexual Health Clinics charge a sliding-scale fee based on family size and income (no proof asked) and state that you can still get services if you have no insurance or cannot pay. Anyone aged 12 or older can be seen regardless of immigration status.Published by NYC Health· 18 Sep 2026
