Kazakhstan: good to know
- What visitors pay. The city AIDS centre says its service is free for citizens of Kazakhstan registered in Almaty and that you must bring the original of your identity document. It does not say what anyone else pays, so ask before testing. The national dermatology and infectious diseases centre on Raiymbek Avenue publishes a price list in tenge instead — an HIV test is 3,508 and a first appointment with a dermatovenereologist 10,000.
- PEP in this country. The city AIDS centre's questions page says that within 72 hours of unprotected sex you should see a specialist about post-exposure prophylaxis. It does not say where the medicine is dispensed or what it costs.
