About

The emergency department that Stuttgart's own health office and AIDS-Hilfe Stuttgart both name for PEP after an HIV risk, open around the clock in the city centre.

This clinic doesn’t advertise itself as LGBTQ+ friendly. Most clinics don’t, so this isn’t a sign that it’s unwelcoming. If you’ve been, tell us how you were treated.

Services

PEP (after HIV exposure) — Yes
Emergency 28-day medicine; must start within 72 hours.
The city health office's FAQ says to go here at once after a risk contact in the last 72 hours; AIDS-Hilfe Stuttgart gives the same department and says ideally within 24 hours. Deutsche Aidshilfe lists it as a PEP site. The hospital's own emergency page does not mention PEP.

Germany: good to know

  • What visitors pay. The City of Stuttgart's health office tests for HIV, chlamydia, gonorrhoea, syphilis and hepatitis anonymously and free of charge, by appointment. Its FAQ says no health insurance card is needed and that only a named test with a certificate (for visas, for example) costs a fee. The office says it is open to all residents; it does not mention visitors.
  • PEP in this country. The city health office's FAQ says that after a risk contact in the last 72 hours you should go at once to the interdisciplinary emergency department of Klinikum Stuttgart at the Katharinenhospital, Kriegsbergstraße 60, where PEP can be considered. AIDS-Hilfe Stuttgart names the same department, open around the clock, and says to start ideally within 24 hours and at the latest within 72. Neither source says what a visitor without German insurance pays.

Emergency number: 112
