Germany: good to know

  • What visitors pay. The City of Hamburg's centre CASAblanca says its counselling and tests are anonymous, confidential and free of charge, with counselling in English. The same free, anonymous testing runs on Tuesday and Thursday evenings at the gay checkpoint Hein & Fiete in St. Georg for men who have sex with men.
  • PEP in this country. Hein & Fiete names two places for PEP in Hamburg: Asklepios Klinik St. Georg (emergency department, and the ifi institute in Haus L by day) and the medical emergency department of the University Medical Center Eppendorf (UKE, Haus O10). It says to start ideally within 2 hours and at the latest within 24 hours, possibly up to 48 hours. Deutsche Aidshilfe's PEP map lists the same two hospitals.

Emergency number: 112
