- PEP in this country. Aidshilfe Köln says PEP should start at once, ideally within 24 hours and no later than 48 hours, and names the out-of-hours practice (Notdienstpraxis) at Uniklinik Köln as the place to go. You get the first doses there and the rest of the four-week course through an HIV specialist practice. It adds that German health insurers pay only in justified emergencies; it does not say what people without German insurance pay.Community-endorsed Aidshilfe Köln· 19 Sep 2026
