France: good to know
- PEP in this country. In France PEP is called TPE (traitement post-exposition). French hospital guidance says to start it as fast as possible — within 24 hours, 48 hours at most. During the day a free sexual health centre (CeGIDD) or a hospital infectious-disease service can start it; outside those hours go to a hospital emergency department (urgences).
- What visitors pay. The City of Paris says its sexual health centres are open to everyone, adults and minors, and that screening at the free CeGIDD centres costs nothing. Checkpoint Paris states its care is free for people without French health cover.Published by Ville de Paris· 18 Sep 2026
