France: good to know

  • PEP in this country. In France PEP is called TPE (traitement post-exposition). The Alpes-Maritimes public sexual health service says emergency treatment can be prescribed after a risk less than 48 hours old: go to the CeGIDD or a hospital infectious diseases service during opening hours, and to a hospital emergency department (urgences) outside them.
  • What visitors pay. The Alpes-Maritimes département says consultations and care at its CeGIDD (free sexual health centres in Nice, Antibes and Menton) are free and do not require health cover. You can be seen anonymously under a code, except for vaccination and contraception, which need your identity.
