Where To Test

Sexual health clinics in Dominican Republic

Both of our Santo Domingo listings are non-governmental. AHF's clinic in San Gerónimo says everything it does is free — rapid tests for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B and C, assessment of symptoms and treatment — and you can walk in during weekday opening hours. COIN, in Villas Agrícolas, runs its own laboratory for HIV and STI tests alongside cheap consultations. Neither says whether short-term visitors are included, so ask before you are seen.

Good to know in Dominican Republic

What visitors pay

AHF República Dominicana states that all of its services are free, including medical assessment and diagnosis by rapid test or by looking at your symptoms, and treatment for HIV and sexually transmitted infections. COIN publishes consultation prices instead, in Dominican pesos: dentistry 150, general medicine 200, gynaecology 500, and internal medicine, urology, paediatrics and psychology 1,000. It does not price the laboratory tests themselves, so ask what an HIV or STI test costs when you call.

Testing

AHF's Santo Domingo clinic opens from 7 am on weekdays and takes its last patient at 4.20 pm, with rapid tests for HIV, hepatitis B, hepatitis C and syphilis, and it says it cares for migrants as well as local people. Appointments can be made on WhatsApp or you can come in person. Neither listed service mentions PEP, the emergency medicine that has to start within 72 hours of a possible HIV exposure, so if you need it, ask at a hospital and do not wait.

City pages carry the local detail: which clinic, which hospital, and what it costs there.

PrEP in Dominican Republic: none of our listed clinics says it supplies PrEP. It can also be ordered for delivery from PrEP Online.
