Denmark: good to know
- PEP in this country. AIDS-Fondet says that to get PEP you phone a hospital's main number and ask for the on-call doctor of the infectious disease department, who decides whether PEP is offered. For Aarhus it names Aarhus University Hospital, Skejby, +45 7845 0000 (Herning hospital, +45 7843 2250, is the other option in the region). Start as soon as possible, ideally within 24 hours and no later than 72 hours.Community-endorsed AIDS-Fondet· 22 Sep 2026
- What visitors pay. Denmark's citizen portal says temporary visitors get free treatment that cannot wait until they are home if they hold a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC), live in another Nordic country or are under 18. Private providers and planned treatment are not covered. Visitors from elsewhere may be charged for acute hospital treatment and should carry travel insurance.
