About

A university-hospital testing centre near the city centre where first-time visitors queue for a ticket rather than book, with rapid and laboratory tests for HIV, syphilis and hepatitis B and C plus counselling.

This clinic doesn’t advertise itself as LGBTQ+ friendly. Most clinics don’t, so this isn’t a sign that it’s unwelcoming. If you’ve been, tell us how you were treated.

Prices are shown in the local currency as stated by the source on the date shown. “Consultation” is often charged separately from tests.

Brazil: good to know

  • What visitors pay. Brazil's Ministry of Health says a foreign tourist with a health problem can also seek care in the urgent-care network of the public health system (SUS), including SAMU ambulances on 192 and 24-hour UPA units, and that these services are free. The page does not list any documents a tourist must show.
  • PEP in this country. The Ministry of Health says PEP is offered free of charge by the SUS, must start within 72 hours of the exposure and is taken for 28 days.
