About
Hobart's public hospital emergency department, the after-hours route for PEP: Tasmania's HIV organisation says PEP is available from hospital emergency departments as well as GPs and sexual health clinics.
This clinic doesn’t advertise itself as LGBTQ+ friendly. Most clinics don’t, so this isn’t a sign that it’s unwelcoming. If you’ve been, tell us how you were treated.

Australia: good to know
- PEP in this country. TasCAHRD, Tasmania's HIV organisation, says PEP is available from GPs, sexual health clinics and hospital emergency departments and must start within 72 hours. getpep.info lists the Hobart Sexual Health Service at 60 Collins Street as supplying PEP at a reduced cost to people without Medicare.
- What visitors pay. TasCAHRD says free PrEP is available at Tasmanian sexual health clinics, including Clinic 60 in Hobart, for people who are not eligible for Medicare: the consultation, pathology and medication are all free, by appointment, and not from a regular GP. What people without Medicare pay for other tests and treatment there is not published.
