Where To Test

Sexual health clinics in India

Almost everything we list in India is private: a walk-in HIV and STI testing chain and a private sexual health clinic that consult on PEP and PrEP, plus one LGBTQ+ community clinic in Mumbai that charges a nominal fee. None of them says whether foreign visitors are accepted. The UK government's travel advice says visitors should have travel insurance that covers local treatment.

The clinics we list are mostly private and paid. In Bangalore, Cupid Clinics publishes a consultation fee of 599 rupees and HIV tests from 899 rupees. In Mumbai, the Humsafar Trust's community clinic mentions a nominal fee of 1,000 rupees a year, without saying what a one-off visitor pays. Ask about prices before visiting the DrSafeHands centres listed in Delhi, Mumbai and Bangalore.

Legal & safety

The UK government's travel advice says same-sex sexual relationships are legal in India, that same-sex marriage is not, and that attitudes can be conservative, with a risk of harassment and discrimination, especially outside big cities.
