Ghana: good to know

  • Legal & safety. Same-sex sexual activity between men is criminalised in Ghana. The Human Dignity Trust records that section 104 of the Criminal Code 1960 covers acts described as unnatural carnal knowledge, as a misdemeanour carrying a maximum penalty of three years' imprisonment; the provision does not apply to women.
  • What visitors pay. The one Accra clinic listed here publishes no prices. Ask what a consultation, an HIV test and an STI screen will cost before you are seen, and expect to pay at the visit.
