Canada: good to know
- PEP in this country. Manitoba Health says PEP must be started within 72 hours of being exposed and that you should consult a health care provider immediately. It says PEP is free through the Manitoba Enhanced Pharmacare Program for anyone with a Manitoba Health Card who has no other full drug coverage; it does not say what a visitor without a Manitoba card pays. The provincial protocol describes emergency departments giving a starter kit while the exposure is assessed. Go to a hospital emergency department and say you need PEP for HIV exposure.Published by Manitoba Health· 22 Sep 2026
- What visitors pay. Manitoba Health's testing page lists Klinic Community Health, the Aboriginal Health and Wellness Centre and the Youville Centre as Winnipeg STBBI testing sites and says all services are confidential and free. It does not say whether a Manitoba Health Card is needed, so ask when you arrive.Published by Manitoba Health· 22 Sep 2026
