Where To Test

Sexual health clinics in Botswana

Botswana's government says HIV testing is open to citizens and non-citizens alike, at any health facility, public or private, with a passport as the document a non-citizen shows. Most people get the result the same day. The one Gaborone listing is a sexual and reproductive health team based on the Princess Marina Hospital site, which publishes no phone number or hours.

Good to know in Botswana

Testing

The government's national HIV testing service page is unusually clear about who can be tested: citizens and non-citizens of all ages, at the nearest health facility, public or private, or at a designated civil society organisation. Non-citizens are asked for a passport, citizens for an Omang identity card, and results are same-day for most people. The page does not say what, if anything, a non-citizen pays, so ask at the desk before you are tested.

Good to know

Botswana's two best-known testing networks could not be listed. Tebelopele Wellness Centres, long the country's largest voluntary counselling and testing provider, now returns an 'Account Suspended' page from an expired certificate, and BOFWA, the family planning association, raised a malware warning on the interior pages of its own site. Both are worth re-checking before you rely on them.

City pages carry the local detail: which clinic, which hospital, and what it costs there.
